Ravi Bajaj founded his fashion house Salon de Ravi Bajaj and the label Ravi Bajaj itself when fashion was just blooming in India and was in its nascent stage. Ravi Bajaj introduced haute couture in India in1987. Ravi Bajaj, a native of Delhi, attended the American College of Applied Arts in London before launching his label in 1987.
Ravi Bajaj collections include women’s wear as well as men’s clothing. Ravi Bajaj is one of the most favourite designers for the leading men in the Hindi film industry. The women’s wear and men’s wear include western as well as Indian apparels. Ravi Bajaj was a fashion consultant to some big corporate houses at a time when designer clothes were in its natal stage in India. Ravi Bajaj has an established reputation for western and Indian traditional wear.
Ravi Bajaj was the first designer to introduce corporate uniforms when he designed uniforms for the staff of Jet Airways. In woman’s traditional wear Ravi Bajaj prefers the sari instead of ghagra and salwar kameez. Ravi Bajaj believes in creating and designing apparels that are innovative and fresh for every season. Ravi Bajaj’s boutique in Delhi houses wonderful collection of men’s wear that consists of elegant fabrics. Here one can notice Ravi Bajaj’s creativity of mingling western wear with traditional wear. The boutique comprises of lapeled jackets, Nehru jackets, sherwanis, kurtas along with stylish pants. Although the apparels come with expensive price tags they are worth the penny.
In one of his winter/fall collections Ravi Bajaj gave his men’s apparels an international look. The collection targeted the men who are fashion conscious. His collection included luxurious fabrics such as seersucker silks, silk velvets, Kashmir wools and suedes. The colours used were blacks, purples and beiges. In fact it is Ravi Bajaj who designed the clothes for Amitabh Bachchan for his most popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Ravi Bajaj was given the opportunity to showcase his collections at the prestigious platform of Mercedes Benz Fashion week. Ravi Bajaj displays his designed apparels only to a selected crowd in India. He has also revealed his collections in London, New York, Singapore, Washington DC and Berlin.
