Does Canada charge tax on shipments from US?
So I thinking of buying a Juicy Couture bag that cost 280 dollars US to my sister who attends university in the States and then she can just forward the shipment to me. Will I have to pay a lot of tax. Can you guys please tell me what’s the estimated tax amount? Thank you~
When any product is sold in Canada, it is charged tax. When any product is imported INTO Canada, it is also charged tax.
5% GST, plus whatever your provincial tax is.
If the bag is taxable in the US, it makes no sense to deliver it there (and pay US tax) and then forward it onto Canada. It’s easier and cheaper to have it shipped directly to Canada.
