Couture Grappling Circuit

How do you train when your not part of the academy?

So i been invloved with Barazilian Jiu Jitsu for about 2 yrs now.. I love the sport, i think about it all the time.. But recently, because of money issues I had to give it up for a almost 1/2 a yr (heres hoping its sooner than that). In the mean time, I’m trying to find people who want to train on the side (If your in NE or NW Houston hit me up), but havent had any luck… Im getting into a grappling circuit training regime i saw Randy Couture do, and i modified it a little more. Im trying to use a stability ball, and pretend its an opponent and practice postioning and my fluditity on it. Of course ive been reading my Saulo Riberio and Rodrigo Gracie book and looking at videos online. IS there anything else i could do.

Im trying to work my striking as well, and I eventually want to get an MMA fight in a yr or 2..so anything you could suggest would be appreciated

Find academies in your area that offer true open mat: where you can go in on a day [usually SAT or SUN] and train free of charge or affiliation.

Find other athletes that wish to do free rolls or have them organised already: where fighters from different affiliations seek to train at homes or other non-affiliated spaces [military base gyms/rec centres/et ctera.

Train a lot. Compete.
