Couture And Consensus

Bruce Lee: In his prime, would he realistically have been able 2 defeat today’s top MMA fighters-155 lbs & up?

To be clear, I am not referring to a life or death street fight. I am talking about a sanctioned MMA fight.

I already believe I know ‘the answer’, but I am curious to see what the consensus opinion out there is.

Keep in mind, he was about 5’7″ and weighed between 127 and 135 lbs. Most MMA fighters fighting at 155 walk into the ring at around 170 lbs.

Remember, I said 155 lbs and UP. This would include GSP, BJ Penn, Kenny Florian, Clay Guida, Thiago Alves, Jon Fitch, Anthony Johnson, Demian Maia, Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson, Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, Quinton Jackson, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, Cain Velasquez, Mirko Cro Cop, Shane Carwin, Brock Lesnar, Cheick Kongo, Randy Couture, and The Great Fedor Emelianenko etc.

And throw in Mike Brown and Uriah Faber for good measure.

Consider that each fighter would also be fighting Bruce when they were in their prime as well.

Also, there would be no script, it would be real life.

I’m a big Bruce Lee fan but he’d get killed.
There’s a big size difference and even someone with mediocre wrestling and sub defense can probably control him.
Bruce Lee was one of the first mixed martial artists but today’s MMA have evolved a lot since then. We now know a lot more about what works and what doesn’t. The training is also down to a science…the weight cutting, supplements, etc. Bruce Lee wasn’t a pro fighter…these guys fight for a living and have been fighting for years. They have a lot more experience in an MMA fight.
