Luxury Flooring Company’s Wow With White Effect
Dean Barlow is something of a style icon in the North West, whose beautifully-named design company the Gorgeous Generation sums up his approach to life.
With such an eclectic background, when Dean came to oversee the design of his contemporary apartment in Manchester’s hip city central area, he really wanted to set the scene.
To help make a name for the project, Dean turned to Barefoot Floor Couture for a revolutionary look that would stand out from the crowd.
Barefoot’s Smoothie in sleek, sharp white was installed – one of the first projects undertaken by the luxury flooring company.
From Barefoot Floor Coutures, Sleek Collection, Smoothie is perfect for the city pad, enhancing space, delivering clean lines and providing a great backdrop to city living.
A revolution for home interiors, the Smoothie – based on clean resin technology – is literally poured on to the floor and is available in all shades of the rainbow.

Dean said: “I set out to create something wow with white, and live somewhere bright and happy, so when I wake up in the morning life feels really good – and the Smoothie plays a big part in achieving that.
“It’s amazing, different and unique, and just what I wanted.
“We have had Barefoot’s underfloor heating installed too, and I cannot tell you how good that feels.
“I’ve developed a gallery effect in the apartment and white acts as a great blank canvas – and with the underfloor heating we’ve got no boilers or radiators to take up space.
“The floor fits in with the time of year and the particular time that you’re at in your life. It’s a floor that won’t go out of fashion.
“In fact, the floor is the first thing people notice. They gasp when they walk through the door and want to know what it is and where I got it. I love the fact it’s such a new concept.”
Other Smoothie features include the addition of the natural purification element silver, for optimum cleanliness, combined with a sealed, seamless surface that requires no grouting.
Andrea Hall, Barefoot’s senior designer said: “Smoothie and our other floors have all been designed to encourage people in the UK to ‘lose the shoes’ and enjoy a healthy barefoot approach.
“They are inspired by Feng Shui, to be harmonious and supporting life in a productive way – creating a sense of well-being and contentment.”
